Monique Wells-Lopez, Ed.D. completed her doctorate at the University of Hartford in 2018, focusing on barriers to persistence among adult learners - specifically the financial, logistical and institutional factors that cause adults to delay, stall, or abandon their education goals. Her research focused specifically on Black women over the age of 25, a population that is persistently underserved by traditional academic support structures.
